The Broker's Favorite Line Part 2

Traditional investing requires positive trending markets to work. The Wall Street cheerleaders who only recommend stocks/bonds/mutual funds, etc are telling their clients one of two things. "Lets move to cash and wait things out" (this is marking timing). Or they say, "let's stay the course. Over time the markets will come back. They always do." Most of these broker (cheerleaders for Wall Street) base their experience on the 80's and 90's. But these are not the 80's-90's anymore. Traditional investing is fine in a bull market. Pretty much anything makes money in a bull market. But what if it's a down market over the next 10 years or a sideways market that gains 5% and then loses 5% the next.

Which way will the market go.... right now most of what I'm reading is saying at best a sideways and maybe a huge down.
